Legal Advisory Group
The Legal Technical Advisory Group consists of legal experts to ensure continuity between GCCRS and the Canterbury Earthquakes Insurance Tribunal. The Legal Technical Advisory Group provides input to the GCCRS Advisory Committee on legal issues, recommends system improvements and ensures engagement with stakeholders and interest groups within the legal network.

The Canterbury Law Society were asked to recommend an independent lawyer to sit on the Legal Advisory Group and recommended Hugh Matthews of White Fox and Jones.
Chair - Miriam Dean CNZM QC
Miriam’s 38 years’ experience in commercial dispute resolution and 25 years in governance shape the advice and the investigative work she carries out. As a Queen’s Counsel and independent director, Miriam has a depth of legal and governance skills to take on the most difficult and diverse issues. Miriam’s work in Christchurch has included facilitating negotiations over engineering options for the Christchurch Cathedral and a High Court class action between Southern Response and a group of homeowners with unresolved claims. She is also director of Ōtākaro Ltd, which delivers Crown-led anchor projects in Christchurch.
